The running of the 155th Queen’s Plate, sponsored by Drakenstein Stud Farm and Anthonij Rupert Wyne since 2005, took place on Saturday, 9th January 2016 at Kenilworth Racecourse, Cape Town.
A race first run in 1861 with a prize of a five hundred sovereigns and a silver plate donated by Queen Victoria, the Queen’s Plate has seen one hundred and fifty four winners to date.
The L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate is synonymous with the colours blue and white. The judges will be scouting for best dressed contenders who have taken the time to ensure their garments comply with the blue and white dress code, reflect timeless lines while still reflecting the wearers individually.
