Highstakes Meet High Fashion At LQP 2017

International prizes on the cards with two Best Dressed Competitions at L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate.

The inaugural two-day L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Festival guarantees to be the most elegant start to this year’s social calendar, boasting two best dressed competitions, each to take place on Friday and Saturday, 6 & 7 January , 2017, at Kenilworth Racecourse.

Proving the festival to be as much a celebration of style as it is of Cape Town’s rich horseracing heritage, LQP has partnered with the internationally acclaimed luxury brand, Cartier to sponsor a variety of exquisite products including a cashmere scarf, a trinket tray, a notebook with gold plated bookmark and exceptional fragrances for the Best Dressed Lady and her partner at Friday’s delightful LQP Garden Party.

The dress code for the first day will tastefully keep to LQP’s traditional white and blue aesthetic, however with a flare of informal elegance.

On Saturday, high stakes will meet high fashion as Cape Town’s fairest put their best fashion foot forward. Ladies will take centre stage in extraordinary headpieces while gentlemen up the sartorial bar in timeless attire creating a visual feast of blue and white.

As part of the LQP – Glorious Goodwood partnership, the Best Dressed Lady and her partner will win a trip to the UK, including luxury accommodation and VIP tickets to attend Glorious Goodwood – one of the world’s most famous racing events.

In addition the winner of the LQP Best Dressed Man Competition will receive exclusive membership to SKYY Vodka’s loyalty club, SKYYWAY and an extraordinary VIP experience hosted by the SKYY Brand Ambassador together with a SKYY90 Exclusive cocktail gift set.

Last year’s Best Dressed Lady Naledi Mabuse and Best Dressed Man Jorge Mavova, will return as judges for the 2017 festival, along with internationally-renowned designer Errol Arendz ; and Bri Mott, Founder of Fashion at the Races. In keeping with LQP’s proud heritage, the panel of judges will keep an eye out for locally-designed statement pieces.

“I’m very excited to see the fashion on display at the Queen’s Plate. I’ve seen the elegant ladies and gents in their whites and blues, and each year seems to get bigger and better – I think as judges we will have our work cut out for us picking the winners!,” adds Bri Mott.

Along with its stylish course-side marquees and world-class entertainment, LQP Festival 2017 is set to be a day of exhilarating horse racing action with an unparalleled 18-race card. Trackside, Friday’s highlight will include the Western Cape’s finest fillies competing for the prestigious Cartier Sceptre Stakes and Saturday will see SA’s premium thoroughbreds in pursuit of the coveted L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and R 1.5 million purse.
